We are proud to announce that our varsity FRC team, The Mecha Lions (FRC Team 10252), received the Entrepreneurship Award at CalGames 2026, held at Woodside High School from October 16-18 and hosted by the Western Region Robotics Forum (WRRF). In addition to this team achievement, our FRC member Shivam Singhal received the Sportsmanship Award, making the competition an exciting milestone for our team.
The Entrepreneurship Award recognizes robotics teams that demonstrate strong organizational management, sustainable growth, and long-term planning. Beyond building competitive robots, the award highlights teams that have established effective systems for financial management, project planning, documentation, training, and leadership development. As a relatively new FRC team, we have focused on building an organization that can continue growing year after year through long-term sponsorships, student leadership opportunities, and structured training programs.
During the award ceremony, judges specifically recognized our team’s approach to involving sponsors in outreach initiatives, supporting younger robotics teams, and creating opportunities for members throughout our organization. They highlighted our efforts to provide funding, refurbished equipment, and mentorship to FIRST LEGO League (FLL) and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) teams, as well as our cascading training model, which allows experienced members to pass down their knowledge to newer students. These initiatives reflect our commitment to making robotics more accessible while ensuring that our own team remains sustainable for future generations.
Alongside this recognition, Shivam Singhal was honored with the Sportsmanship Award for demonstrating the positive attitude, respect, and sportsmanship that make robotics competitions a welcoming environment. His achievement reflects the importance of supporting fellow competitors and representing the values of FIRST both on and off the field. We are incredibly proud of Shivam for receiving this individual recognition.
These awards build on our team’s previous achievements, including the Rookie All-Star Award during our first FRC season and the Judges’ Choice Award at the 2026 CA District Half Moon Bay Event. Receiving both the Entrepreneurship Award and Sportsmanship Award at CalGames 2026 represents another important step in our team’s growth and reflects the dedication of our students, mentors, sponsors, and supporters.
We are grateful to WRRF and the CalGames judges for these recognitions, as well as everyone who has supported our journey. As we continue growing, our goal remains the same: to build more than competitive robots by creating lasting opportunities, supporting our community, and establishing a strong foundation for future generations of Mecha Lions.
