What is First Tech Challenge?
The FIRST Tech Challenge is a dynamic robotics competition for students in grades 7-12. In this challenge, teams are tasked with designing, building, and programming a robot to compete in an alliance format. This program provides a hands-on platform that mirrors a real-world engineering environment, pushing teams to innovate within the constraint of an 18-inch cube.
21781 Pyro Lions

As the Pyro Lions of Stratford Preparatory, we are our school’s founding FTC team, originally competing under the name Mecha Lions. In our inaugural season, we established a strong precedent for success, earning the Judge’s Choice Award for our exceptional rookie performance and captaining the finalist alliance. Building on that foundation, our dedication to the engineering process was recognized the following year when we secured 2nd Place for the Think Award, which honors the thoughtful design and documentation behind a team’s robot.

Our team is focused on applying the core principles of collaboration and strategic problem-solving to meet the annual challenge. We are committed to developing our skills and contributing to the spirit of Gracious Professionalism® that defines the FIRST community.
